PROJECT SUMMARY |
MultiAPPRO aims mainly at the development of intermodal transport in Adriatic-Ionian region. The first approach focuses on systematic collection and providing solutions to all bottlenecks, both on national or regional level, and the next approach innovatively and systematically performs promotion of the intermodal transport in the region and also creates a network of promotional centers. Furthermore, to assure high quality service, project will design specific port quality measures indicators and while investments in the transport infrastructures require exceptional financial means. MultiAPPRO project will thus create a model, that will be able to measure the effect of each new investment, in relation to the existing situation, in a simple and logical way. Given the above, project outputs include development of two supported transnational cooperation networks: 1) Intermodal Transport Network and 2) Promotion network as well as a SSS and MoS promotion action plan serving as a strategic document for performing common promotion campaign and finally, a Transport Performance Strategy enabling actors to define the effect of any investment by defining the strategy and action plan for future investments in the region.

PROJECT AIMS |
The overall aim of the project is to foster the development of intermodal transport in the Adriatic-Ionian region. MultiAPPRO targets at creating the conditions for a sustainable growth and remove the lacks of the current development of intermodal transport on more levels within the region. Generally, there are three key factors which influence the insufficient use of the intermodal transport system's development potential within the region- the inexistence of a coordinated development in the intermodal transport system within the region, the different transport infrastructure condition (port, railway and road) and unreliability in the service quality towards the final users. Although ecologically and socially more acceptable as a mean of transport, intermodal transport is subordinate in comparison with road transport, hence this project aims to change this. For each of these lacks, the project offers a set of measures and activities to contribute to their removal: |
PPA SA Role |
In the frame of SUPAIR, PPA contributes into the implementation of the project in multiple ways. More specifically, PPA SA will be member of the transnational network of port authorities developed within the project and will adopt a common methodological framework for developing its Action Plan focusing on:
