PPA S.A.: Announcement regarding the accident occurred at the Ro-Ro Terminal (G2)

22 August 2024. PPA S.A. informs that this morning, at 9:24 am, an accident occurred in the Ro-Ro area of the G2 Terminal. More specifically, the incident took place during the loading of a bulldozer bucket from the ground floor of the G2 terminal onto a Mafi, intended for transfer to a vessel.

Our initial report indicates that the forklift operator placed the bucket onto the Mafi; however, the bucket subsequently felt and injured another colleague operator. Our G2 terminal employees responded immediately to assist the injured operator.

A PPA ambulance, which is stationed on-site at the port at all times, arrived promptly. Paramedics provided first aid and transported the operator to Metropolitan Hospital for further treatment. The Port Police was also notified immediately and was on-site to take any necessary further action.

Our thoughts are with our injured colleague and his family during this challenging time. We are committed to support them in every possible way to ensure a swift and full recovery and we maintain close communication with the hospital and stay updated on the condition of the injured operator.

At PPA, the health and safety of our employees and workers is our utmost priority. Our health and safety regulations are fully aligned with current legislation in order to enhance workplace safety.

We are working closely with relevant authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the cause of this incident.
