 PRESS RELEASE

IMPORTANT INCREASE IN THE HANDLING OF TRANSIT CARS (33.3%), AT THE NEW CAR-TERMINAL OF PPA SA, IN 2011.

According to data from the relevant Department of Motor Vehicles, which managed the car terminals of PPA SA during the fiscal year January-December 2011, there was an overall increase in movements by 9.81%, which is mainly due to the positive change in transit movements by 33.3%.
These results, despite a significant reduction in car imports to Greece because of falling sales, as the President and CEO of PPA SA George Anomeritis commented, are extremely positive, vindicating the policy of PPA SA of extending the car terminal areas and policies of movement in transit vehicles.
In absolute numbers, in the period January-December 2011 versus the same period in 2010 a total of 417.659 cars versus 380.346 were handled, of which 328.996 were transit, compared to 246.801 in 2010.
It is noted that at the old “Karvounoskala” of N. Ikonio, the new car park area of PPA SA for handling cars has been expanded, after being first reconstructed and ecologically upgraded, which is also the largest in the Eastern Mediterranean. Loading and reloading is done by dock staff of PPA SA, who are trained and work by European standards, under the supervision and help of big companies manufacturing and handling cars.
