Press Release

The docking of the floating museum "Thales of Miletus" in order to remain seaworthy and able to be visited under sponsorship of PPA SA was decided by the Management Council of the Company based on the policies of supporting culture and maritime activities.
The "Thales of Miletus" belongs to the Aegean Maritime Museum, which is a non-profit institution, built in 1908 and is the oldest registered ship in Greek flags. It is also the oldest cable ship in the world and still bears its original steam engines.
As the President and CEO of PPA SA Mr. George Anomeritis commented: “In a few days we will celebrate again the World Maritime Day and Memorial Day of Benefactors. During the events planned by PPA SA, through the Historical Record of PPA SA, which was recently founded, it was decided to exempt a historic ship, which is connected with the naval tradition of our country, from the cost of docking. PPA SA considers it an obligation to assist a museum, thus enhancing the charitable work of the benefactors of the sea."
