Press Release

On October 17th 2013, the third Cruise Workshop themed “Cruise 2014” will be held, which is annually organized by the Hellenic Ports Association (Elime) and PPA SA.

The keynote speaker at the conference will be the Minister of Marine and the Aegean Mr. Miltiadis Varvitsiotis. As is well known from the workshops of previous years, in addition to the suggestions of the President of Elime Mr. George Anomeritis and the President of MedCruise Mr. Stavros Chatzakos, there will be suggestions and contributions from operators and cruise companies, since the objective of the workshop is to set and examine all aspects of the cruise industry for the coming year 2014. At the Workshop the first proposals of the study on the theme “Winter Cruise Tourism” in the Eastern Mediterranean will be presented, a common preoccupation with many ports in Greece and neighboring countries.

As stated to the Administrative Council of PPA SA by Mr. George Anomeritis: “Contrary to what is said in general terms in various circles that cruise passenger traffic will decrease by 30% in 2014, if exceptional events do not occur in the region, cruise passenger traffic is actually going to be higher relative to 2013. The PPA will present the exact data of 2014 at the Workshop, based on the data of prior notifications (calls) for the next year, which have been submitted to PPA SA by the cruise companies”.

The Workshop will be held in the great Hall of PPA SA, on 10/17/2013 at 11:00.
