A detailed Table of environmental programs, which is implemented by the PPA and released by the Agency, in accordance with what is expounded by the President and CEO, Mr. George Anomeritis, at the Workshop on Environment in European Ports which was conducted by Ecocity at the University of Piraeus .
Additionally, the PPA applying the provisions of the International Convention for preparedness, cooperation and management of marine pollution by oil OPRC (1990), the Protocol on Preparedness, Response and Cooperation Pollution Incidents by Hazardous and noxious substances OPRC-HNS (2000) and national legislation, has established and applies, the approved by the Port Authority, Emergency Response Plan for Marine Pollution, in order to tackle any incident of pollution by oil and other harmful substances in the port area of PPA.
The Plan has been prepared in accordance with the provisions of national law and is in harmony with the local plan of the Port Authority and by extension with the National Plan. Furthermore, in the context of preventive actions, daily checks and cleaning of floating objects in the whole sea port area are performed.
