The aggregate volumes of traffic of the Port of PPA SA was released by the Board of PPA SA.
From these results, it arises that:
a) In the grand total of passenger traffic there was a small decrease (17.669.774 passengers, compared to 17.978.728 in 2012),
b) Vehicle traffic also showed a small decrease (2.549.407 vs. 2.701.891 in 2012) and
c) Container traffic showed a slight increase (644.055 TEUS vs. 625.914 in 2012), while the loaded/unloaded cars - goods remained almost consistent (448.682 vs. 458.755 in 2012).
In the area of cruise passengers there was a distinct rise of 11.10% from 2.066.925 passenger arrivals/departures in 2012 in comparison to 2013 were they amounted to 2.296.457.
As the President and CEO of PPA SA, Mr. George Anomeritis, commented: “Despite the minor deviations in sizes, the Port of Piraeus remains the largest passenger port in Europe and together with sizes of PCT SA in containers, it is one of the 10 largest in Europe. Traffic in 2014 is expected to move at the same levels or a little higher, if the coastal and tourist season shows growth”.
