A cooperation meeting on the development programs of the port of Piraeus and the development policies of Cruise was held between the President of PPA SA, Mr. George Anomeritis and the newly elected Mayor of Piraeus, Mr. John Moralis.
At the discussion that followed, with the involvement of the Gen. Director of PPA SA, Mr. S. Hatzakos, the following issues were discussed at technical level:
A. The institutional aspects of the operation of the PPA
B. Relations between City - Port
C. Coupling and accelerating development programs of PPA and the Municipality
D. The development of the Tourism - Culture policies, in relation to infrastructure and cruise policies
Mr. George Anomeritis particularly informed Mr John Moralis on:
1. The steps necessary for the celebration of the 2.500 years since the Battle of Salamis in 2021 (legislative, organizational, operational). The nomination of the Municipalities of Piraeus, Salamis and the region as a Cultural Capital of Europe 2021
2. The immediate commencement of the detailed design of the European Maritime Day, which will be celebrated in May 2015 at Piraeus
3. Immediate consultation on the organization of the General Assembly and the Conference of the European Sea Ports Organization (ESPO), which for the first time will be held in Piraeus in May 2015
4. The steps for the development and operation of the Cultural Coast of Piraeus, as one of the most important reshaping projects in Piraeus.
Both sides agreed to cooperate with Working Task Forces, in order have finalized proposals of the new Municipal Authority until September 1st, when he will assume office, along with the institutional processes and procedures of the municipality.
