The newest cruise ship in the world, the “REGAL PRINCESS”, was officially welcomed at Piraeus Port by the Administration of PPA SA and shipping operators.
The event took place on the ship, where guests were greeted by Captain Edward Perrin and his officers, exchanging salutations and souvenirs with the President and CEO of PPA SA  Mr. Giorgos Anomeritis, the President of MedCruise Mr. Stavros Chatzakos and the President of E.E.K.F.N. Mr. T. Conte. Captain Edward Perrin expressed his satisfaction with the high quality of services offered by PPA SA as well as his appreciation for our country as a center for cruise. The PPA also honored - with a special plaque – the company INCHCAPE SHIPPING SERVICES, representing PRINCESS, which as is known belongs to the CARNIVAL group of companies. The REGAL PRINCESS was built in Italy and launched in May 2014. It has a length of 330 m, 18 decks, weighs 142.714 tons, has a crew of 1.350 and can accommodate 3.560 passengers in 1.780 cabins.
As Mr. Giorgos Anomeritis commented at the reception after the ceremony: “The PPA provides high quality services, with international certifications, to all types and sizes of cruiseships. Already today, the port has served concurrently with others, two of the largest cruise ships in the world with a length of 330 m. Cruising is now the area of central activity of PPA SA with constant service since 2009, and over 2.000.000 passengers per year. Within a decade, since 2004, the year of the Olympic Games, where arrivals/departures amounted to 662.357, passengers in 2013 amounted to 2.296.457. We are delighted today because of the 9.360 cruise ship passengers from new-generation ships, 2.400 passengers are home porting, i.e. they chose the port of Piraeus for embarkation-disembarkation. In 2014, despite the crisis in the region of the Eastern Mediterranean, Greece and Piraeus remain areas of security and peace, attracting through fields of new infrastructure and quality services, a large number of cruise ships and passengers.”
