A major cruise project was inaugurated in the port of Piraeus.
In the presence of Mrs. Elena Kountoura, Alternate Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism and Captain Xu Lirong, Chairman of China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited, inaugurated the new cruise Pier Saint Nikolaos in the port of Piraeus. Also present were: Mr. I. Moralis, Mayor of Piraeus, Mr. Pitsiorlas S., Chairman of Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund, Mr. G. Gavrilis, Regional vice Governor of Piraeus, Members of Parliament, General Secretaries and other official guests.
The project was completed successfully by TEKAL S.A. in cooperation with Naftiliaki Technodomiki according to the time schedule.
The project was built with caissons and provides an extra cruise berth over 250 meters, since it has length 284m. and a depth of -11 while the land area is 8,415 sqm. Total berth positions for cruise ships mooring are becoming 10 (depending on the size of vessels).
Under the new concession agreement with the Greek State, the PPA S.A. will implement a number of large investment projects which will make Piraeus the top Mediterranean cruise port.
