Piraeus, 27.01.2017
PRESS RELEASE
An increase of 6% recorded the vehicle throughput in the Car Terminal.
According to the final data, in 2016 the vehicle throughput amounted to 361.912, in comparison with 341.386 in 2015, despite the strikes and the ongoing crisis in the Greek economy affecting passenger car imports.
Particularly important was the increase of 20% in the second half, compared with the corresponding 2015.
Although Greece is not a car-producing country in relation to competitive ports in the Mediterranean and despite the economic downturn and the increasingly growing port competition due to the building of new terminals in the broader area, the PPA Car Terminals remain between the terminals with the largest traffic in the Eastern Mediterranean.
It is noted that in the framework of the continuous improvement of services provided to our customers, the car handling services (Car Terminal) certified for the first time in 2016, according to the International Quality Management Standards ISO 9001: 2008 and Environment ISO 14001: 2004 by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance / Hellenic Lloyd's SA.
