Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between PPA SA and Shanghai International Port Group.
An important Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed today, June 12th 2017, between PPA SA and Shanghai International Port Group, the biggest commercial port of the world. The MOU was signed by Mr. Athanasios Liagkos Executive Management Consultant & BoD member of the PPA SA and the Chairman of Shanghai International Port Group, Mr. Chen Xuyuan.
This development further highlights Piraeus's strategic position on the world map and especially on the New Silk road. The sectors of cooperation mentioned in the Memorandum are: Project Studies, Staff Training, Information Exchange, Technical Assistance, etc. The key objective pursued through the close cooperation in the above areas is the development of synergies that will improve trade and create new business opportunities. There is also provision for joint discussions with shipping companies to seek the possibility of further improving the shipping service between Shanghai Port and Piraeus Port.
A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between COSCO SHIPPING GROUP and Shanghai International Port Group. The event was attended by the Minister of Shipping and Insular Policy Mr. Panagiotis Kouroumplis, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Development Mr. Stergios Pitsiorlas, the Mayor of Piraeus Mr. Ioannis Moralis, the Mayor of Perama Mr. Ioannis Lagoudakis, the Mayor of Salamis Ms Isidora Nannou – Papathanasiou, the CEO of Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations Ms Ourania Aikaterinari, Mr. Han Zheng, a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China & Communist Party Secretary of Shanghai and the Chairman of China COSCO Shipping, Captain Xu Lirong.
