The Board of PPA SA, and after further investigation of the seabed foundation (from NTU and HCMR) and the decisions of the Technical Council, approved the continuation of the project “construction of a new cruise quay in Ag. Nikolaos”, which as is known is part of the NSRF (ROP Attica) and already running.

Another important experiment for the protection of the marine environment is carried out these days by PPA SA within the European Research Project SEE MARINER. The experiment identifying oil spots in the wider maritime port area in day and night conditions.

The Chairman and CEO of PPA S.A., Mr Yiorgos Anomeritis expressed today at the meeting of the Directors Board his satisfaction  about the decision by the European Commission for approval of the project of expanding the southern port cruise with cofinancing from Community, national resources and own funds of PPA

The President and CEO of PPA SA, Mr. George Anomeritis, and his colleagues presented the crest of the harbor and books to the captain Tony Draper and his officers of the cruise ship “Royal Princess”, as gifts to mark the first arrival to Piraeus of the newly constructed ship by Carnival.

The newest cruise ship in the world and also one of the largest, the “Royal Princess” will be welcomed at the PPA, on Tuesday 02/07/2013, during its first visit to the port of Piraeus.

The General Assembly of the stockholders of Piraeus Port Authority (PPA SA) was completed today, which voted unanimously all the issues which were put forward concerning the financial report of 2012 and prospects for 2013.

In the presence of Minister of Shipping and Aegean Sea Mr. Miltiadis Varvitsiotis and the President of Cosco Captain Wei Jiafou, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the President and CEO of PPA SA, Mr. Yiorgos Anomeritis and CEO of PCT SA Captain Fu Cheng Qiu, for the signing, within one month, of a settlement under the Concession Agreement (Law 3755/09) for the construction and management of the West Pier III of SEMPO.

PPA SA was visited by a large delegation of the Transport Committee of Shanghai Municipality and Shanghai Port Authority (SMTPA), which was welcomed by the President and CEO of PPA SA Mr. George Anomeritis, the General Director Mr. Stavros Chatzakos and managers of PPA SA.

Captain Robert Olmer and Captain Mickey were greeted by the executive board members of the Piraeus Port Authority SA on board their ship. The President and CEO of PPA SA, Mr.George Anomeritis,  handed over to the captain the crest of the port and books, as well as the Mayor of Piraeus Mr. B. Michaloliakos, the Deputy Head of the Prefect Mr. St. Christou, port authorities, the General Secretaries of EOT and the Ministry of Marine and Aegean Messrs. Leivadas P.…

Another environmental distinction was awarded to PPA SA and to 5 other Mediterranean Ports (Valencia, Algeciras, Marseille, Livorno and Koper) for active participation in the Program CLIMEPORT PROJECT, for the cooperation in the Mediterranean to face the consequences of climate change.
